Its been awhile since writing a blog and feel very guilty for doing so but I had to put horses second to reality of life- I had gone fulltime at work and taking on a new responsibility of a house (yes actually feel grown up now;)lol) meant there were more important things to pay for than entry fees! Which is why the second half of the 2014 season for us was put 'on hold'. Although not competing Guy has been ticking over doing plenty of homework and fitting work over winter. Its been great just to enjoy Guy without any pressure of competing but I have missed it! Over the past few weeks we have been preparing for competitions -first time jumping since last year, starting off a bit shabby but ending wanting to do more. Guy has come out stronger and more balanced this season which has shown in his first dressage test of the season.........
UK Riders Dressage- Elms Farm 22/2/15
Today was our first competition of 2015. Starting out at my local competition centre Elms Farm, Caythorpe. The weather forecast didnt look good-heavy rain and windy. I had booked in for the one test ( brain fade-can only remember one test!! must be getting old!!) and wouldnt be competing until 1306hrs (Arhhhh nerves!!), I am sure if you read my previous blogs my nerves can get the better of me but found a thorougher spring clean of the house beforehand took my mind off it Lol!. Elms at this time of year is always 10 degrees colder than anywhere else and today it lived up to its reputation-it was bloody freezing. Guy warmed up in such a professional manner, got on with his job and the weather didnt effect him at all. The test was BE92 one we have done a few times eventing, it flows well and I thought it would be a kind one to start with. Guy produced a balanced test to say I only gone through some odd movements out hacking and not having an arena those corners do come up rather quickly! He felt great going forward without running on his forehand, his canter work had improved immensely and produced a lovely balanced halt at the end . Scores were soon up and we had won on 70% ***YES 70%!!!!!***** What a way to start off the season with a great score and red frilly!!!!
